November 2007

In follow up to our recent Water Messaging Meeting at the William Penn Foundation, I wanted to take a moment to thank those of you who attended for your participation and all of you for your ongoing efforts to protect and preserve our quality of life and the health of the natural world. The presentations were interesting, and for me, really highlighted a couple of things:
smsmossssThe amount of good "water" work that is going on all around us; and
smsmossssThe importance of sharing lessons learned in the field so we can build upon one another's success.

smsmossss Call for Images
junkflow_smallWe're looking for some good images for use on the StormwaterPA web site. Think about anything and everything stormwater related: heavy rain on paved surfaces, flooding, erosion, overflowing storm sewers, BMPs in action (the good, the bad, the ugly), schematics, site plans, etc. Images with people are especially helpful.

Please note, we can only use photos from sites in Pennsylvania. For more information, or to send images, please contact Brie Knight at bknight@greentreks.org.

Our effort to create on the ground change will only succeed if we can demonstrate the positive implications of "getting stormwater management right." That means showing municipal officials, engineers, and developers that their peers are achieving success

Since you're out there making it happen, we'd love your insight into the who's, what's, and where's of the best stomwater solutions that are being put into place. Our initial focus is southeastern PA, but as we expand out across the state, so will our portfolio of highlighted projects. All suggestions are welcome, so please send them to me, blewis@greentreks.org.

smsmossss Help us Connect
As the StormwaterPA web site comes online and our video toolkit takes shape, we'll be looking for creative ways to get the word out and get these valuable resources put into use.
Our next update will formalize our request for assistance in this outreach process (and what we can offer in terms of promoting your efforts), but in the meantime, we'd love to know of any opportunities that come immediately to mind.

Does your web site have a "What's New" section where you can promote StormwaterPA? Do you have an e-newsletter or print publication? Hold or attend conferences where our resources would be of use?
Feel free to fire any thoughts to me, blewis@greentreks.org.

Keep your eyes on your inbox for details about the January release of the StormwaterPA web site, and please be in touch with any suggestions or thoughts. And thanks for all your hard work

Sincerely yours,

Barry Lewis
